Understanding osu! Rank Tiers

osu! has a single global ranking determined by total weighted PP. There are no formal divisions or seasons — your rank is simply your position among all active players by PP total. However, players and the community have established informal tier labels that describe the skill level associated with each rank range.

The gap between rank tiers is not uniform. Moving from Top 500,000 to Top 100,000 requires roughly 1,500 additional PP — achievable in weeks with focused play. Moving from Top 10,000 to Top 1,000 requires roughly 4,700 PP — a difference that takes most dedicated players one to three years. The further up the ranking you go, the denser the competition and the harder each additional rank becomes.

How osu! Rank Is Determined

Your global rank in osu! is determined entirely by your total weighted PP. The weighting system means your best play counts for its full PP value, your second-best for 95%, your third for about 90%, and so on. This design rewards consistent improvement across your top 100 plays rather than one-off lucky scores.

Rank thresholds shift over time as the playerbase grows and as existing players improve. The values shown in each rank guide are based on 2026 data and represent approximate thresholds. The precise requirement for any rank may be slightly higher or lower depending on when you reach it.

Country rank uses the same PP total but compares you only against players registered in your country. For players in smaller osu! communities, reaching Top 100 in your country may require significantly less total PP than the global thresholds listed here. For players in large communities like South Korea, Japan, or the United States, country Top 100 can approach global Top 1,000 requirements.
