osu! Double Time PP Calculator
Double Time (DT) is the highest-multiplier single mod available in osu!, giving 1.12× PP on every play. It increases the song speed by 1.5×, effectively raising the BPM of any map by 50%. A 180 BPM map becomes 270 BPM under DT — a dramatic shift that demands faster aim, faster tapping, and sharper reading.

Double Time does not simply speed up the audio — it raises the effective BPM of the entire beatmap. Every aspect of the map is compressed in time: approach rate increases (circles arrive faster), overall difficulty increases (smaller timing windows), and the audio pitch rises. This combination makes DT maps feel fundamentally different from the same map played normally.
Importantly, DT does not change the base star rating that appears on the map selection screen, but osu!'s PP calculation internally accounts for the increased speed and effective AR when computing your score. Higher effective AR generally means less time to react, which is why DT maps are genuinely harder than their star rating suggests.
DT PP Reference Values
The table below shows approximate PP for full-combo Double Time plays. Note that with DT, maintaining accuracy becomes significantly harder, so real-world PP may vary depending on how much accuracy you sacrifice.
| Star Rating | Accuracy | PP (approx) | Effective Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3★ | 97% | 70pp | ~4★ feel |
| 4★ | 96% | 138pp | ~5.5★ feel |
| 5★ | 95% | 248pp | ~7★ feel |
| 6★ | 94% | 420pp | ~8.5★ feel |
| 7★ | 92% | 650pp | ~9.5★ feel |
| 8★ | 89% | 960pp | ~11★ feel |
Learning Double Time
DT is widely considered the hardest common mod to learn, but also the most rewarding in terms of PP per unit of skill improvement. The best approach is gradual speed introduction:
- Use the "Daycore" practice method. Daycore (0.75× speed) slows the map down, letting you learn patterns at reduced speed before attempting full DT. Many top players use this to break in unfamiliar DT maps.
- Start 1.5–2 stars below your NM level. If you FC 7★ No Mod, start DT practice on 5–5.5★ maps. The effective difficulty increase from DT is roughly 1.5–2 stars.
- Prioritize clean timing over full combos initially. DT is ruthless on misses — a few misses can destroy your PP. Build timing consistency before chasing FCs.
- Choose stream-friendly maps to start. Maps with consistent BPM and regular patterns adapt better to DT than technical or jumpy maps.
