How Flashlight Works

Flashlight restricts your visible playfield to a dark, circular region that follows your cursor. At the start of a play, the circle is relatively large. At 100 combo, it shrinks noticeably. At 200 combo, it shrinks again. This progressive restriction means that for long maps, you are essentially playing blind by the final sections.

Hit circles outside the visible area are still present and must be clicked at the correct time — you simply cannot see them. This demands either complete map memorization or an extremely strong sense of rhythm that allows you to anticipate where circles will be without visual confirmation.

FL PP Reference Values

FL's PP values are comparable to other mods with a 1.12× multiplier, but achieving these values in practice requires substantially more preparation time per map.

A Realistic Approach to Flashlight

Flashlight is not a mod you pick up and immediately farm with. The investment required for each map is significantly higher than other mods. Here is how players approach it effectively:

• Start with very short maps. Maps under 60–90 seconds limit how much time you spend in the deep-combo shrink zone. Short drain time maps let you build FL confidence without full memorization.
• Choose maps you know extremely well. The ideal FL target map is one you have already played hundreds of times and can mentally see even without the visual. FL rewards deep familiarity.
• Practice No Mod with eyes closed occasionally. This sounds extreme, but it trains the rhythm memory that FL demands. Even 30-second segments help build the spatial intuition FL requires.
• Use FL+HD cautiously. FL+HD further reduces visual information. Most FL players avoid this combination until they are deeply comfortable with FL alone.
